Entries from December 2007
What does the term “resolutions” mean to you? Is it positive? Negative? How does the word itself make you react. What about conceptually?
In January, the Factory on 5th is hosting a themed show called RESOLUTIONS.
If you’d like to participate, you’ll need to paint, sketch, collage, build, or otherwise create an entry (or entries) which explore the theme. You may submit work in any medium. There are no rules about interpretation, either. Just do whatever feels right for the theme.
When:
January 4th, 2008 (First Friday)
January 18th, 2008 (Third Friday)
Where:
At the Factory on 5th Art Space
17155th St. NW
(between Aspen and Haines)
If you’d like to create something based on January’s theme, please contact Robert Redus and let him know you’ll be participating: 505-261-3752
The show fee is $28.00, plus 20% commission.

Tea Appreciation
Tea has been enjoyed for thousands of years. From the high mountain Oolong of China and Taiwan to the dark, robust Indian Assam and delicate African Honeybush – the consumption of true tea and herbal tea is meditative, relaxing, invigorating, and reflective. Tea brings health benefits and stress relief. It’s used as medicine, as a beauty product, and even in art and douse cleaning. Delve into this lush class, which offers you the chance to taste, sample and discuss tea from all over the world. It’s an ideal class for those seeking something beyond supermarket tea bags, or for those wanting to learn more about (or to sample) world teas. Proper brewing methods, tea tasking, tea grading, and even some tea tales will be discussed.
Note: $10 materials fee due to the instructor at the first class.
Saturday, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM;
3 sessions starting February 16, 2008, ending March 1, 2008
Enroll now. Class sizes are small and will fill up quickly.
“Tao” literally means ” the path” or “the way.” Find your own way through the deep, philosophical world of Taoist thought as you learn about cultivating inner peace, going with the flow, and practicing compassion, simplicity and patience. Taoism is the oldest form of Chinese philosophical and religious thought and it still brings enlightenment and peace to millions in the modern world. Tao and Zen will introduce students of all interest levels to the world of Taoism; concepts, history, schools of thought, modern practice, the Taoist arts (Qi Gong, Tai Chi, etc.), tales, artwork, and heroes. This course is open to anyone, regardless of age, spiritual experience, or personal religious choice. The journey of a thousand miles begin with one step….
